Description

The VI Theatre Department presents a nontraditional staging of Shakespeare's fantastical drama The Tempest. Set on an enchanted Mediterranean island the play centers on Prospera, a deposed Duke turned corcerer, who commands spirits and savages in her new exotic kingdom. Long hungry for revenge she conjures a fantastic sea storm to lure her usurpers ashore. A story unfolds filled with power-driven characters seeking a path to kingly rule by way of passion, treachery or murder. But Prospera discovers hope in the love match she has orchestrated for her daughter Miranda. She overcomes her thirst for vengeance, lets go of anger and finds reconciliation. The Tempest is an intricate story filled with not only magic and suspense but also comedy and romance.

Performances are November 10, 11, 12 at 7:30 and November 13 at 2:30pm in Trayer  Theatre in the Anne Worrell Fine Arts Center on the VI campus. General admission tickets on sale at the door are $10 for Adults, $8 for Senior Citizens and $5 for students.
