Antique Appraisers Ken Farmer and Bob Miller will be at the Bristol Public Library Thursday, October 7th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. as part of the 2010 Discovery Series. Both appraisers will be at both sessions. Cost is $10 per item with a limit of 5 items.

Kenneth W. Farmer, Jr. is the owner of Ken Farmer Auctions and Appraisals, LLC in Radford, Virginia. His specialties include the appraisal and selling of American furniture and folk art and sales of fine art and decorative art. Mr. Farmer holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Emory and Henry College and he also did post graduate work at Virginia Tech.

Since 1975 he has been self employed first as an antiques dealer specializing in Southern furniture and folk art, later concentrating on appraisals and consulting to collectors and institutions. Since 1995, Mr. Farmer has served as a guest appraiser in furniture, folk art, decorative arts, and musical instruments on the PBS television series Antiques Roadshow. He has also appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show as an appraiser. He is also a member of the Certified Auctioneer's Institute, the Virginia Auctioneer's Association, the Appraiser's Association of America and the National Auctioneer's Association.

Farmer and Bob Miller will be appraising items brought in by the community during the time allotted.
