Description
On Sunday, November 21 at 3:00pm, the Bristol Public Library will welcome the local associate professor of Appalachian studies at East Tennessee State University. Fred Sauceman is the author of several books on local cuisine. He is also editor of Cornbread Nation 5, a collection of essays on Southern Food.A native of Greeneville, Tennessee, Sauceman is senior writer and executive assistant to the president for public affairs at East Tennessee State University, and he teaches courses in the Foodways of Appalachia. His weekly food column appears in the Kingsport Times-News and he is a contributor to Marquee magazine. A member of the Board of Directors of the University of Mississippi's Southern Foodways Alliance, Sauceman also serves as a regular commentator on "Inside Appalachia," which is produced by West Virginia Public Broadcasting.
Sauceman will be showing a short clip of his film, Beans All the Way. He will also be introducing a new cookbook from the Southern Food Ways Alliance and providing samples of some of the recipes. This event is part of the library’s ‘Homegrown Series’ focusing on our region’s talent. Mr. Sauceman will be giving a short presentation and signing books at 3:00pm in the J.
